Onwards and Upwards 2
Onwards and Upwards 1

The first Onwards and Upwards course chose to do something nice for a group of local children and their parents. The group raised money to take the families to the Welsh Mountain Zoo for the day. The group raised enough money to pay for tickets, transport, packed lunches and they even put on a little party for all involved.A fantastic day was had by all!

The second Onwards and Upwards course chose to do something nice for the deaf community. The group spent their time planning a trip to Liverpool World Museum for Llandudno Deaf Club. Enough money was raised to take 12 members of the group and their hearing dogs, by coach to the city, they provided a packed lunch and a celebration party was held at the end.

The current Onwards and Upwards team have spent the last 10 weeks putting together a fantastic fun day for a local children's group in Colwyn Bay. The group have managed to fund a day of toys, games, activities and food. We can't wait to see the look on the kids faces!

The group transformed the centre of the Creatasmile chrity in Towyn, North Wales. The group planned, organised, funded a Carol Smiley makeover day. Every one got involved and transformed the centre from a dreary, messy hall to a bright and beautiful day room for the children!

Onwards and Upwards

The Onwards and Upwards course is now in its second year and going from strength to strength. The ethos of the course is to empower individuals through group work to identify their skills and work towards a common goal. Each cohort identifies a local beneficiary and spends time learning how to cost, plan and deliver a project to meet an identified need. During the course participants develop team working skills and are encouraged to become reflective learners. The course is being delivered in partnership with Communities First and participants are drawn from the local area and in particular from the recovery community. The course is accredited and all participants receive an Agored qualification and essential skills are developed throughout. Accreditation is kindly provided by WEA Cymru.

Sit and Stew Community Cafe

In the Winter of 2016,  4:28 Training were commissioned by Conwy Communities First with a simple brief; to go to the area of  Pensarn and engage with the hard to reach. 4:28 already had contacts in the area with the crime reduction charity Nacro Cymru - we went to Pensarn and held some informal meetings with some of the residents  -  we talked, we listened, the residents had ideas, and we had some money  - and so the 'Sit and Stew Community Cafe' was born - a community project developed, planned and delivered by the community, for the community! We are now also running Sit and Stew in Colwyn Bay.

Grwp Cynefin Denbigh

This year 4:28 Training have the privilege of working with some of the young people that live in The Hwb - the young person's homeless prevention project in Denbigh.
